Stamped postcards

Ok here they are. The ‘hello’ card is stamped and then painted. The ‘just a note’ card is stamped and then colored with pencils. These may not be as fancy as some cards but you must keep it simple when creating postcards.

An important thing to always remember is to check your fingers for ink or paint before touching anything! lol. As you can see from the pics, I forgot to do that.

Late night creating

I did this project kind of in reverse. In stead of starting with a photo or a theme in mind I just started with my blank canvas and my inks. I wanted to see how stamping straight onto the canvas would work. I took my Hybrid ink squares in charcoal and burnt umber and rubbed them onto the canvas.  Then I tried stamping some butterflies. I colored them with my impress markers and stamped away.  They came out dark and lacking in detail. I rubbed off the extra ink and rubbed on more charcoal. Then stamped swirls. After that then I remember about the photo of me and my DH.  It was taken when we were teens at a theme park.  I placed a small wooden frame over the top. Now that it is all done, I do like it. Even if the butterflies didn’t turn out perfectly!

Spring supplement is here!

I have gotten my spring supplement in the mail and I’m so excited! There are some new great stamps but my fave part is the how-tos! There are some cool little projects in it. I’m going to be ordering soon. To try these out!  You can check out the supplement at my TAC site. www.delisa.ismyangel.net

From the catalogue

This stamp set is great for nature and bird lovers. It would also work well for people wanting to make spring/easter cards without the bunnies.

Happy Spring card

I know that in some areas (like my house) spring still looks far away. It really isn’t that far off.  It is time to order your spring stamping supplies. Remember Easter comes early this year. Are you ready to scrapbook those egg hunt photos?happy-spring-card0001.jpg

My Valentine’s Day card

I made this card to give to my DH. I hope he likes it!

Supplies:

Red and white card stock

Red ink ( I used my red impress marker)

Embossing stamp pad

Clear embossing powder

Stamp sets:

curls & swirls (t-2773)

I love you stamp from set T-2144. Words that you like will do.

Cut and fold the red card stock for your card base. I cut the white to be 1 inch smaller than the red on each end. So you will have about a half inch of red showing behind the white. The I stamped the white with a stamp from the curls & swirls set in red. Then on a smaller piece of red card stock I stamped I Love You with my embossing pad and embossed them with clear embossing powder. I didn’t have a hart shaped stamp so I folded a piece of white card stock in half and cut a hart out. I stamped it with a different stamp for the curls & swirls set. I used my heat gun to set the ink so it wouldn’t come off on my embossing pad. Then I pressed the hart into the embossing pad to get it all covered. I used the clear embossing powder on the hart to give it some shine.

You can order all the supplies for this card at my TAC site. These kind of cards don’t have to wait for Valentine’s Day. Show someone you love them on other days too!

Learning to hand bind books

I have become addicted to book making! I still need a lot of practice but here is a book I made using TAC papers. The binding I used is called single needle coptic. This type of binding will let your book open to lay flat! It isn’t very hard but I didn’t get it totally right. I suggest printing out the directions so you have them right in front of you. This book is a mix of two different books I have seen, so it looks a little odd. lol.  This book is 6in X 6in. This makes cutting and measuring easy when you are using 12 X 12 papers. I only had 8×8 card stock so I cut down one side and folded the other at 2 inches.\book1.jpg

Then I took the 12×12 and cut in half (6×12), folded that in half and glued each one to one piece of card stock. Be sure to fold your pattern paper pattern side in if it is only one sided. This will make the pattern be on the inside of the page for embellishing.

Then stack your pages together, clip them, and punch the holes. The pic doesn’t show the cover but you should have that clipped to your pages too. To make the cover cut a piece of chipboard to size and glue the paper of your choice to it.

Once you have the hole punched you can begin sewing. I used a curved needle and that seemed to help. Remember to punch your holes big enough that what ever thread/string you are using can pass through twice.

Here is what my book looks like all done. It lays nice and flat so I can use it as a journal or whatever. My binding didn’t come out quite right but it still looks fine and works well. These little books can be used and mini albums, brag books, dream books, or journals. They also make really great gifts. With all the cutting, gluing, sewing, fighting my thread(lol) this book took me almost two hours. Now that I have a better idea of what I’m doing I’m sure the next one will go faster.  I haven’t added any embellishments to the book. I’m not sure if I will yet. This book was a practice book. The real book is going to be a baby girl brag book for my friend!

Handmade books

The books started out as easy holiday gifts/ school project for my kids. And now I’m hooked! Yesterday I make a hand sewn little book. It is not perfect but I’m still pleased with myself. When I get the steps all down and have a nice finished product to show you I will posts pic, instructions, and links. These books are great for making some really cool personalized gifts.
